An Index to the Bills that Passed the 2014 Legislature

The Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB) has published its handy report, “Supplemental Information relating to Bills Passed by the Hawaii State Legislature, Regular Session of 2014.” While the title’s a mouthful, the report itself is concise, and offers timely and  useful information.

Note that while the bills listed (there are 245 of them) have passed the legislature, only those showing an act number (as of today, there are 81) have been enacted.

Particularly helpful:

  • An index that lists the bills passed in 2014 under subject matter categories. For example, you can easily determine which bills would affect agriculture, or energy, or family court if they become law.
  • A table showing which sections of the Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), Session Laws of Hawaii, and the State Constitution would be affected by the legislation. If you routinely work with particular provisions, or are looking at a particular statute, this is especially helpful.

The “Supplemental Information” report can be found on the LRB website (lrbhawaii.org) — in the left-hand column, you’ll find a link to “Session Reports.” Once there, just select the “Supplemental Information” report for 2014. (Before you do, you may want to take a look at the wealth of information available on the “Session Reports” page. It’s a great resource!)
